Our technicians may incidentally see personal information while diagnosing or repairing a device. We limit access to what is reasonably necessary to perform the service you requested.
We do not intentionally browse, copy, disclose, or use customer files except as needed to provide the requested service, complete a customer-authorized backup or recovery task, troubleshoot a problem, protect security, comply with law, or respond to your instructions.

9. Device Access and Customer Data Privacy
Before service, you should back up your data and remove, encrypt, or protect sensitive files where possible. This includes financial records, health information, private photos, passwords, confidential business files, and any information you do not want a technician to access.
Some services require access to files, settings, operating systems, drives, backups, or cloud-connected accounts. For example, malware removal, data recovery, backup, file transfer, operating system repair, and software troubleshooting may require files to be accessed, copied, scanned, moved, or transferred.
We will use access only for the service purpose and any related instructions you provide.
10. Remote Support
If you authorize remote support, we may view or control your device during the support session. You are responsible for closing private windows, documents, or accounts that are not related to the service before the session begins.
Remote support may depend on your internet connection, device condition, account permissions, and cooperation. We may end a session if we believe it is unsafe, unlawful, abusive, or outside the requested service.
11. Passwords, Credentials, and Access Codes
We do not ask for unnecessary passwords. If access credentials are needed to perform a service, we will request only what is reasonably required for that service.
You should change temporary passwords after service is complete. Do not provide passwords for accounts or systems unless access is necessary for the requested work.
12. Payments and Invoicing
We may collect billing details and payment status information to issue estimates, invoices, and receipts. If payments are processed by a third-party payment provider, that provider may collect and process payment information under its own terms and privacy policy.
13. Marketing Emails and Electronic Messages
If we send marketing emails, texts, or other commercial electronic messages, we will do so in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation where applicable. Marketing messages will identify the sender and include a way to unsubscribe.
You may unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time. We may still send service-related messages, such as appointment confirmations, repair updates, invoices, safety notices, or replies to your requests.
14. Data Retention

When personal information is no longer needed, we will delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it where reasonable.
15. Safeguards
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, loss, theft, or modification.
No method of storage, repair handling, remote access, or internet transmission is completely secure. Customers should keep their own backups and use strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and device encryption where appropriate.
16. Customer Rights and Access Requests
You may request access to your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how it is handled. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Requests can be sent to: info@makeitsavvy.ca.
We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to legal limits and exceptions.

Our services are not directed to children. If a parent or guardian asks us to service a child’s device, the parent or guardian is responsible for authorizing the service and preparing the device before service begins.
18. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our website or service communications may link to third-party websites, tools, software vendors, payment providers, manufacturers, or cloud services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Please review their terms and privacy policies.
19. Cross-Border Service Providers
Some service providers may store or process information outside your province or outside Canada. If personal information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
20. Privacy Breaches
If we become aware of a privacy breach involving personal information under our control, we will take reasonable steps to contain the issue, assess the risk, and notify affected individuals or regulators where required by law.
